Anonymous asked: I see heaps of girls like you come over to Japan and end up crashing and burning when they realise it's not a magical fantasy land where everything is perfect and kawaii and the people are lovely and will love you just because you're white and cute. Good for you for actually making an effort to learn the language, but I really do hope you realise that Japan is not some kind of wonderland. It's just a normal country, and it can be really shitty at times with it's superficiality and sexism.

I already know this shit. first of all, I don’t think Japan is “perfect and kawaii” I don’t even USE the word Kawaii unless im IN japan, speaking Japanese TO a Japanese person. im not 15 years old. I’m 21. I’ve been to Japan 3 times, experiencing both good and bad (sexism, superficiality, racism). but IN MY OPINION, the good just outweighs the bad FOR ME. im from fucking Miami, shit can be pretty grimy here and you experience superficiality, sexism, racism, drugs, murder, a whole bunch of shady shit x1000. It’s amazing to me how anyone on the internet thinks they know my personality and views and thoughts from my tumblr. and dont you give me that half-ass “good for you for learning the language” this has been my interest for 7 years, more even! and most likely im older than you to begin with. I can’t believe YOU are trying to tell ME that Japan is just a normal country. I may love cute, girly things, but im not fucking stupid. when I do live in Japan, it isn’t for the fact that it is cute, im looking for a real career and life over there.
